Hey Barbarians,
It’s been seven months since you last heard from me. Tucked behind my kitchen table, I’ve been hacking away on my upcoming book, entitled (as you might suspect), The Barbarian in You.
Today is a big day, however. I finished my final draft. Now it’s time for my copy editor to tame this feral beast – but hopefully not too much. Too much civilization is hazardous to our barbarian health.
In a few weeks, I hope to have a fully completed manuscript I can shop around to agents, publishers, or just publish the damn thing myself with the help of some smart and creative people I’ve met along the way. By any means necessary, this book will see the light of day.
Writing a book evoking my barbarian ethos of vigor, wonder, and fellowship has taken me years of hard work. But I'll tell you this: Writing this book has never been a grind; it has been an absolute pleasure.
Sitting at my kitchen table (desk) and bowing to my laptop every Saturday and Sunday with my trusty notepad, lazy cats, and stacks of books by my side has been one of the great endeavors of my life. With “M83 Outro Radio” soothing my ears with wonder, I’ve been feral and free through it all – taking my writing wherever the barbarian in me wants it to go. New discoveries were made and clarity problems solved. What a life I get to live.
Having a creative outlet along with creative goals has saved me from the tedium and routines of life. I’m so grateful to have found “my thing,” and it means the world to me that you’re interested in what I write.
As far as a timeline, who knows… Many things need to occur before publication, but I’m hoping for sooner rather than later. I’ll keep you posted.
That’s it for now, as I’m simultaneously thrilled and depleted on this Sunday evening. It’s time to light a candle, pour a whiskey, and read some history. I’m stealing a little Sunday wonder before Monday’s vigor takes hold and the long march towards Friday fellowship begins.
Thanks for your patience during this lull in my Barbarian Posts. I intend to start posting pieces again in the new year after the book is published.
More to come, my barbarian friends. Always more to come...
Ed
